Description
Efforts to transplant Gunnison sage-grouse (GuSG) from capture locations in the Gunnison Basin to satellite populations were initiated to address concerns related to falling lek counts and the associated decline in populations. The goals of this effort were to boost population numbers to increase potential mating opportunities and to address the threat of low genetic diversity.

Description
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) proposes to conduct a study of the Parachute/Piceance/Roan (PPR) population of greater sage-grouse during 2007 and 2008. The PPR is one of several small, spatially fragmented populations of sage-grouse in Colorado. The CDOW is interested in working with energy companies and other land owners and managers in the PPR area to sustain the PPR grouse population and plan for future management actions. The objectives...

Description
Over the last 30 years declines in greater sage-grouse populations have occurred across much of their range. Breeding populations had declined by an estimated 17-47% since the mid 1970s, a trend that has paralleled significant changes in the sagebrush habitats essential for the species. The primary factors affecting this change in sagebrush habitats differ by region and state but include changes in fire regime, conversion to cropland and seeded grasslands,...
