The Colorado Alternate Assessment (CoAlt) is a standards-based assessment designed specifically for eligible students with significant cognitive disabilities. The primary purpose of the assessment program is to determine the level at which Colorado students with significant cognitive disabilities meet the Extended Evidence Outcomes (EEOs) of the Colorado Academic Standards in the content areas of science and social studies.

The purpose of this manual is to provide instructions to the District Assessment Coordinator (DAC) and School Assessment Coordinator (SAC) for securing and distributing CoAlt test materials prior to test administration, collecting and organizing materials after testing is complete, and preparing materials for return to CTB/McGraw-Hill (CTB) for scoring.

Description
Students assessed with the CoAlt typically have significant limitations in intellectual functioning, in adaptive behavior, and in academic functioning expressed in conceptual, social, and practical adaptive skills. Often these students are identified as having a Cognitive Disability; however, students with other types of disabilities may also satisfy the criteria for participation in the CoAlt.
