Description
This study has been conducted on behalf of the Colorado Energy Office to provide an analysis of the impact of solar photovoltaic (solar PV) systems on the home buying process. The study includes the analysis of 30 homes in the northwest Denver metro area, with homes ranging in sale price from $200,000 to $680,000. The goal of the study is to better understand the impact solar PV has, if any, on the sales transaction process. All properties used as case studies were sold between January 1, 2011 and May 31, 2013. The 30 case studies each consist of a singlefamily residential home that had a PV system installed at the time of sale. All of the PV systems included in this study are owned, and not leased, by the homeowner.
